Captain Sabc Livhu, real name Livhuwani Madadzhe, a well-known Limpopo media personality and comedian, has been accused of domestic assault by his wife. His altruistic husband, according to his wife, has been physically abusing her on a regular basis.
According to his well-documented Facebook profile, Captain Sabc Livhu is well-known in the Venda community for supporting disadvantaged families, building houses, supplying food, and general activism, but most notably for saving a woman named Jane who was a victim of substance abuse.
On his company's website, they identify themselves as "an organization that believes in rising and upholding people who can't support themselves." It stated, "Every day, we give community members hope that they can make a difference."
Sabc Livhu had also spent a night at a motel with one of the victims, the woman said, stating that he did so to prevent her from fleeing as she had previously done.
When they shared a bed, Jane agreed with Mpho Rathando, the host of Phalaphala FM, that Livhu tried to make sexual advances. Jane told Phalaphala FM, "He also counseled me not to have a boyfriend," and "I thought he was taking advantage of me."
The issue drew greater attention after it was mentioned on SABC radio Phalaphala FM's current affairs show "Tshiko" on Thursday. Callers vented their frustrations on Sabc Livhu, whom they had always viewed as a communal hero.
Livhuwani was also charged with violating the National Road Safety Act in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court in October of last year. The case was rescheduled for January 21, 2021, and his R1 500 bail was increased
