SAFA not happy with the way Robert Marawa ways dismissed from work

The South African Football Association (Safa) is dissatisfied with the way the national broadcaster South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) fired journalist Robert Marawa without providing a cause or explanation for his dismissal.

Marawa took to social media to announce that he had received a text message notifying him that he would not be returning to work for his final Marawa Sports Worldwide broadcast.

Football has been a hot topic on many of Marawa's broadcasts, and the amount of airtime given to football-related topics has piqued public attention.

SAFA has expressed their displeasure w
ith Marawa's contract termination, claiming that it will obstruct football's development and professionalization.

Marawa has excelled as a major contributor to football analysis, insight, and debate on the African continent and globally for many years.

His broadcasts have consistently drawn a diverse spectrum of expert viewpoints and perspectives, all of which have aided in the development of South African football.

"It is said that, as we celebrate the right to freedom of speech and diversity of view, the country's leading broadcasters, SuperSport and SABC, discover that such contrasting and various opinions are not to be accepted on their platforms," SAFA said in a statement.

Robert Marawa has a demonstrated track record of delivering major service to both local, CAF, and FIFA platforms, both nationally and continentally. He has utilized his considerable clout to enliven football conversations in our country and across the African continent.

"South Africa, as well as its broadcast channels, must show more tolerance for differing viewpoints.

"SAFA, as the country's football governing body, will approach SABC to address this critical component of the game's future."
