Radebe gives good advises to Percy Tau

Percy Tau of Bafana Bafana is reportedly pondering a move away from Brighton & Hove Albion, after scoring a wonderful goal in a friendly on Saturday.

In a pre-season friendly against Luton Town, which Brighton trounced 3-1, Tau scored his first goal for the club. Tau had a relieved face after scoring. The 27-year-old attacker has been connected with Royal Antwerp, a Belgian club.

“Look, Percy wants to play every week, and there are no guarantees at Brighton, so he might go before the season starts,” a Tau source said.

“The kid is irritated because he doesn't receive enough playing time. He plays in the second XI even in these friendlies, proving that he isn't high on the pecking order. I think he'll go back to Belgium [where he spent the majority of his European loan spells with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge].

The transfer window for the English Premier League expires on August 31, approximately two weeks before the season begins. Tau's contract with Brighton is set to expire in June of the following year. Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, the Bafana star's agent, declined to comment when reached by Sowetan, saying, "I don't think it's the correct time to speak about Percy now."

Bafana icon Lucas "Rhoo" Radebe, who earned cult status in the same English Premiership when he played for Leeds United between 1994 and 2005, has urged Tau to fight harder to win the heart of Brighton coach Graham Potter.

“I don't think Percy should leave. Returning to Belgium after he's previously been there makes no sense to me. He is capable of playing for Brighton. "He has to fight harder...show them he can do it," Radebe said.

Tau's goal, according to Rhoo, will boost his confidence coming into the new season.

“Achieving that goal will increase his self-confidence. He must never look him in the eyes again. This season must be the year he proves to the rest of the world that he's a fantastic player,” Radebe said, before adding that settling in at Leeds took him a year and a half.
